In Unit 2, I expanded my academic foundation and conducted in-depth research in fields such as alchemy, eco-art, and electronic witchcraft, closely aligning my creative ideas with current cultural and theoretical discourse. During this process, I wrote multiple articles on these topics, particularly exploring potential research questions around ritual and the virtual realm within electronic witchcraft. I examined how ritual and magical thinking manifest in physical reality through the symbolic domain, realizing that further study of symbolic expression and multisensory experience could offer new perspectives for contemporary representations of mysticism and witchcraft.
Building on these explorations, I decided to expand these concepts through digital technology in Unit 3, combining the ritualistic experiences from Unit 2 with modern media. In collaboration, Jenny’s experience with drawing fortune sticks provided us with additional insights. Through the study of Taoist fortune drawing and Western tarot reading, I observed that both practices use symbolic systems to offer spiritual guidance and healing. This inspired me to consider how technology could create a new form of divination, bringing traditional mystical culture to life through a modern digital experience.
